I identified the flower (wildflower) that we have growing very successfully as a cultivated plant in some of our common flower beds:
“rudbeckia triloba” also known as “common thin-leafed coneflower”
Ours look much more lush than this picture (given their superb garden conditions I presume, as opposed to the wild).
