Farmer John has been selling produce, baked and canned goods at the corner of Powelton and Lancaster Avenues for almost eight years. He remembers a time when stands stretched all the way to the end of the block, but now it’s usually just him.

Well, I’ll be darned if it isn’t overcast, cold and windy every time we try to have a work day. We did have one scheduled for today and we have invited some interested neighbors, so let’s all try to get out in the garden today at some point between 2-5pm. We will be planting the new City Harvest starts that Caroline picked up, any many of you have gorgeous greens that look ready for you to enjoy! I haven’t seen any buzz about a potluck, but if you want to bring some snacks to share, I’m sure they will be appreciated.
Thanks to everyone who visited us at the Clark Park Farmers’ Market yesterday! We raised money and got signatures for our save-the-garden efforts, distributed fresh rosemary from the garden, cookies and chicobags, and talked to lots of great people from the community. If you couldn’t make it, you can still sign the petition and come to our May 17th potluck/City Harvest work day.
