We’re at Clark Park Market Sat 5/2

As part of our effort to increase community awareness and enjoyment of the garden and also secure the land for future enjoyment, we will be hanging out at a special Sloan Street Community Garden table at the farmer’s market this Saturday, meeting you all and raising funds for the garden. Please come and say hello!

What: Community Outreach & Fund Drive
Where: Clark Park Farmer’s Market, 43rd & Baltimore Ave.
When: Sat, May 2, 9am-2pm
Who: gardeners & you!

We have chicobags for sale as part of our fundraiser – they are wonderfully colorful and durable shopping bags that fit in a small pouch no larger than your palm and can replace hundreds of single-use plastic grocery bags. Check out chicobags.com and come buy some at our table, or email us to place an order.

The garden is looking great – come and enjoy it and help preserve the space! (see our new online petition under the “support” tab as well – thanks for putting that up, Gary!)

Sloan Street Community Garden members pitched in at Saunders Park for today’s “Spring into your Park.”

The crew gets ready to spring into Saunders Park

Thanks to everyone whose help made the “Spring into Your Park” day successful – to the great neighborhood folks who came out and pruned, picked up and mulched the park, to UC Green for the tools, UCD for dropping them off and picking them up, the City of Philadelphia for the mulch and trash pick up, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society for the TShirts, banner and gloves, the Councilwoman Blackwell’s office for ongoing support, Sloan Street Community Garden for tools and of course to Penn-Presbyterian for the park itself. We had a beautiful day and everyone felt great about the results.

Happy Spring! from the Saunders Park Greene volunteers and friends of the park.

Update: Thanks to Carolyn for more pictures.
